Shotgun at Sunrise

Leadership Niagara has contributed to the quality of life in the Niagara region for twenty-six years and has cultivated over 1000 leaders in community leadership development.

We recognize your important role in strengthening leadership in Niagara County and we are asking for your support of Leadership Niagara’s 2010 Shotgun at Sunrise golf tournament to be held on August 27, 2010 at Lockport Town & Country Club.

The Shotgun at Sunrise golf tournament is our main fund raising event and brings together over 100 top leaders representing industries and organizations across Niagara County in an effort to raise funds for our leadership programs and scholarships for youth and adults.

2010 Leader of the Year Annual Awards Luncheon

Thursday, April 29th at Noon - Niagara Falls Country Club

Leader of the Year Award*
Alumni of the Year Award
Organization of the Year Award
Emerging Leader Award (ages 16-29)

 
Eligibility:
Individuals/Organizations from all sectors - government agencies, nonprofits, corporations and private sector - are eligible for the awards.  Nominees need not reside in Niagara County, but their impact must be made on the Niagara Region.

*Elected officials are exempt from nomination for the Leader of the Year award, however they may be nominated for the other award categories.

Criteria:
An individual or organization who: (1) Significantly impacts the Niagara Region; (2) Supports our mission to strengthen regional leadership; (3) Serves as a role model/mentor for future leaders; (4) Exemplifies our organization's core values:
  • Visionary Leadership
  • Excellence
  • Regional Partnerships
  • Societal Responsibility
  • Diversity and Inclusion
Nominations:
1. Submit a one-page statement demonstrating how your nominee fulfills the criteria.
2. Include contact information for both nominee and nominator.
3. Indicate name of the award you are nominating your candidate for.
4. Please list two references.

Leadership Niagara Announces the Class of 2010

The Leadership Niagara Class of 2010 held their overnight Opening Retreat at The Giacomo Boutique Hotel in downtown Niagara Falls on January 15th.  Board Members, alumni, and community leaders came out to welcome the new class.  One of the highlights was hearing from Carl Paladino who addressed the group and enjoyed some networking with the Class of 2010 well into the evening.

Leadership Niagara Announces 2010 Officers

Niagara Falls, New York (December 2, 2009) - Leadership Niagara has announced officers for 2010.  Dan Conley, vice president of risk management at First Niagara will serve as Chairman and lead the longest operating leadership development program in New York State.

Also approved by the Leadership Niagara board of directors at their December meeting, which was held at the Giacomo Hotel in Niagara Falls, additional officers include: First Vice Chair and Treasurer: Diana Henry of Gaines Kreiner Elliott LLP; 2nd Vice Chair: Steve Colan of the New York State Power Authority; Secretary: Margo Hall of the Niagara County Sheriff's Department and Executive Committee members Frank Mergl of M&T Bank and Angela P. Berti of the NYS Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation.

"I am looking very forward to 2010.  We have an outstanding group of candidates form the Class fo 2010.  We are building on the strengths of our 25 year old organization and raising the bar on community leadership development.  I am extremely honored and excited to be leading this organization at this time," said Conley.

Leadership Niagara has graduated over 725 professionals from the Niagara region since 1984.  Leadership Niagara's mission is to strengthen regional leadership.  The vision for the organization is to be the premier leadership resource for the region that creates trustees of our community who work together to shape our future.



Leadership Niagara Chair Receives Special Citation from Niagara County Legislature for Visionary Leadership

Niagara Falls, New York (December 2, 2009) - Leadership Niagara Board Chair Christine S. O'Hara received a special citation by the Niagara County Legislature in recognition of her visionary leadership.  Befitting this high honor, the citation was presented on the 19th floor of the newly renovated Giacomo Hotel by Legislature Majority Leader Richard E. Updegrove at Leadership Niagara's December board of directors meeting.

Updegrove cited O'Hara's service as "Ductus Exemplo," Latin for "Leadership by Example."  O'Hara serves as Director of Annual Giving at Niagara University and is a 1992 Leadership Niagara graduate.

The citation formally recognized O'Hara's extraordinary leadership and exceptional commitment to Leadership Niagara as chair from 2008-2009.  Under her tenure the organization pursued a new and compelling mission and vision to advance the twenty-five year old community leadership program.  O'Hara guided Leadership Niagara toward a new strategy, new objectives, new core values, re-branding, as well as lead the search committee for the organization's new executive director, Molly A. Fitzpatrick.

"Christine elevated our view of leadership and our community," stated Dan Conley, incoming Board Chair of Leadership Niagara.  "We thought what better way to honor her accomplishments than to thank her with a one-of-a-kind view of the magnificence of our region."  Conley serves as Vice President of Risk Management at First Niagara.
